100 Luxury Instagrams accounts to follow: Designer bags and accessories

From Chanel to Gucci and Hermès via Dior — our five-part luxury Instagram series continues with an insider’s guide to the most influential accounts in the world of handbags and accessories

Susie Lau, also known as Susie Bubble, started her fashion blog, Style Bubble, from her London home in 2006. Now she’s one of the most influential voices in British fashion and has a weekly column in ES Magazine. Her Instagram account combines her love of London with all things fashion. Expect photos of her at couture shows and A-list parties, wearing the season’s must-have clothes, shoes, accessories and handbags, as well as the occasional personal post featuring her baby bump and young daughter.

The fashion enthusiast has been a social-media phenomenon since graduating from high school in 2013. Following a two-year break starting in 2019, Gross resurfaced on TikTok in 2021 with a new mission: to make luxury fashion as accessible as possible. In his informative content — nearly always introduced with his signature catchphrase, ‘Let’s talk about it’ — he discusses the value, price and cult status of luxury goods, notably Hermès Birkins. Thanks to his calm demeanour, distinctive soothing voice and genuine desire to engage, share and connect with his audience, he has amassed more than one million followers across his social-media channels.

Gucci Vault is an online concept store that offers rare Gucci vintage pieces, exclusive capsule collections and limited-edition styles alongside items from other celebrated brands and emerging designers favoured by Gucci’s creative director, Alessandro Michele. Following its Instagram account is an ideal way to stay up-to-date with vintage drops, NFT releases and new collaborations.

For your daily dose of style inspiration, look no further than the Swedish content creator known on Instagram as Bagsionista. She uses her account to document her globetrotting travels as well as her fashion choices, regularly posing in a favourite outfit with the handbag from her collection that best complements it. She also shares insider tips and tricks, such as how to pack for short- and long-haul flights.

The official Instagram account of the Handbags & Accessories department at Christie’s is a hot list of the most collectible handbags offered in our salerooms worldwide. From Hermès Mini Kelly 20 IIs to vintage Louis Vuitton trunks, there is a piece for every collector and every budget. You’ll also find informative videos featuring our specialists, as well as details of private sales and upcoming auctions, together with exhibition dates and practical advice on how to register, bid and consign pieces.

The Norwegian influencer Marianne Theodorsen knows a thing or two about handbags. She writes about bag trends and must-have styles for Vogue Scandinavia  and shares her insider tips for sourcing vintage pieces on her social-media channels. What sets her apart from most fashion influencers, however, is her unabashed love of colour. In keeping with her bold, brilliant style, her Instagram feed is a rainbow-hued delight: candy-coloured outfits, bags and accessories abound.

Thanks in part to the viral power of TikTok, early-2000s style has been making a comeback. Need a reminder? Think bootcut jeans, crop tops and oversized handbags toted by the likes of Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie and Kim Kardashian. For a nostalgic trip down memory lane, look no further than the Handbag Bible Instagram account, which features a wealth of paparazzi images of ‘It’ celebrities with the then bag du jour. From Lindsay Lohan and her oversized orange Birkin to Gwen Stefani carrying a Dior Cadillac Pochette, it’s a must-follow for any Y2K fashion sentimentalist.

You’ll be hard pressed to find a more glamorous Instagram feed than that of The Real Fashion Blogger. A lover of French fashion houses such as Dior, Chanel and Louis Vuitton, she uses her account to share her favourite designer outfits, bags and accessories, as well as photos of her luxury travels.

The Notorious Pink is the resident Hermès writer for PurseBlog (see 15 below), one of the leading online voices on the subject of designer handbags and accessories. It’s no surprise then that her Instagram account spotlights her favourite Hermès pieces, as well as her most recent PurseBlog  articles — covering everything from the latest Hermès trends and colours to collectible limited-edition styles.

The fashion influencer Ratti uses Instagram to document two of her passions: food and Hermès handbags. Although based in Switzerland, she travels extensively around Europe, regularly uploading glamorous snapshots of her shopping sprees, coffee stops, drinks and dinners in Paris and Rome. In most of these, her handbags take centre stage.

If you agree that size does matter, this is the account for you. Conceived by the Milan-based graphic designer Virginia Rolle in 2019, The Big Bag Club is awash with larger-than-life versions of cult classics, including Chanel’s 2.55 quilted bag and Dior’s embroidered saddle bag. Although the bags look real, they have in fact been digitally supersized and superimposed onto existing imagery. ‘It’s a different way of looking at the fashion industry, it’s more relaxed and less snobbish,’ Rolle told Vogue. ‘In this way, brands look more friendly and self-mocking.’

Rachel Koffsky is one of the world’s leading experts in luxury handbags. As international head of the Handbags & Accessories department at Christie’s in New York, she is responsible for consigning, authenticating, appraising and cataloguing some of the most valuable handbags offered at auction. As well as advising her clients on their collections and curating Christie’s handbag and accessories sales, she is also an auctioneer and collector with a penchant for limited-edition Hermès Constance bags. A quick scroll will reveal that she lives and breathes handbags.

For decades, Hermès has produced some of the most collectible handbags and accessories in the world. Its official Instagram account showcases the most desirable of these, including its coveted range of silk scarves, charms, Birkins and Kellys. It also features news, styling tips and facts about the brand’s history, craftsmanship and heritage.

Tamara Kalinic is the creative brain behind the popular fashion and beauty blog Glam & Glitter. Since its launch 10 years ago, she has fronted social campaigns for the likes of Fendi and Chopard, and amassed more than 1.3 million followers on Instagram. She has also been named one of the UK’s top 100 influencers by The Times. Brimming with images of parties, fashion shows and collectible handbags, Kalinic’s feed offers a window into her jet-set lifestyle.

Since its conception in 2005, PurseBlog  has built up a devoted following of fashion fans hungry for the latest handbag news, reviews and updates on trends and designers. On Instagram, you’ll find 45-second review reels, as well as styling tips from industry insiders and articles outlining the season’s must-have styles.

Manila-born Bryan Grey Yambao, also known as Bryanboy, rose to prominence in 2004 with his eponymous fashion blog, featuring self-styled editorial photoshoots and a candid approach. Now he’s editor-in-chief of Perfect Magazine  and one of the most influential internet celebrities, with nearly five million followers across social-media platforms. His Instagram feed is a combination of glamorous images of fashion shows and parties, and more personal shots of him at home in Sweden with his husband and dog.
