Meghan Markle’s VERY expensive Megxit jewellery box!

Since she married Prince Harry three years ago the Duchess of Sussex has become known for her love of delicate jewellery steeped in symbolic meaning,

But since she officially stepped back from royal duty in March, Meghan Markle, 40, who lives with her family in a $14 million California mansion, has been wearing jewels that are particularly eye catching.

The mother-of-two has worn new pieces worth a staggering £14,715 throughout the year, as well as her usual accessories including Princess Diana’s tank watch, her £271,000 engagement ring and a £45,000 sparkler ‘made from Middle Eastern gift’.

Here, FEMAIL reveals all of the jewelry Meghan added to her very pricey jewellery box this year – as well as the meaning and history of each very valuable piece.

An online description also highlights how the piece is ‘especially helpful to anyone in need of a boost in self-confidence and a stronger connection to their inner voice.’

It’s not the first time the Duchess has promoted her friend’s brand.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex faced criticism in May 2019 for using a mental health campaign on their official Instagram account to promote an exclusive £900-a-night retreat run by Taryn.

The couple told their 7.6million followers that they wanted to ‘shine a light’ on those doing ‘amazing work for mental health’ – but among the many admirable causes is a lucrative business run by fashion industry executive turned fitness guru Taryn, who attended Meghan’s New York baby shower.

As fashionable talismanic symbols go, it’s up there with the evil eye.

Dangling from ears, adorning rings, worn as a pendant, even at the end of a keychain, the hamsa — a symbol in the shape of a hand and said to convey protective powers on the wearer — has become the accessory de jour for a veritable gallery of celebrities.

The royal has also sported two £396 diamond Duet Pinky Rings, from New York-based brand Shiffon, which are meant to represent female empowerment

For her Time magazine cover Meghan wore two £396 diamond pinky rings from New York-based brand Shiffon, which are meant to ‘represent one woman supporting another through a pinky promise’.

The dainty Duet Pinky Ring features two diamonds of differing sizes on the end of the spiral design, which are meant to symbolize two women coming together.

It also has an evil eye on the 18-carat yellow gold chain, so perhaps she felt in particular need of protection.

So what is the hamsa? Alemdara puts it like this: ‘Widely recognised in many cultures for its powers to ward off negativity, the hamsa hand’s spiritual currency is rooted in the ancient world.

‘Depicting the open right hand, legend has it that the talisman brings its owner health, luck and happiness.’

Interpretations of the meaning and power of the hamsa vary, given it is deployed across various religions, but its roots are ancient and thought to lie in the Middle East, likely ancient Egypt.

The word hamsa means five, and represents the five digits on the hand. The hand pointing up is seen as warding off evil, and a hand pointing down is used to bring blessings.

The amulet is thought by many to symbolise the Hand of God.

Meghan wore the Adina Reyter Tube Hoops, £264, for the first time when she stepped out in New York with Prince Harry in September.

However she had long been a fan of the female-founded brand, having donned earrings from the label on multiple occasions over the years.

Among the jewelery pieces Meghan showcased for the first time in New York was a 18-karat yellow gold, polished nameplate by Jennifer Meyer engraved ‘Archie ♡ Lili’.

Online, the £956 piece is described as the ‘perfect, personal gift for yourself, someone special, or the new mom in your life.’

Jennifer was allegedly told by  Buckingham Palace officials to delete images posted online that use the royal’s image to promote her business.

The California-based jewellery designer has attracted customers by saying Meghan ‘can’t get enough’ of her pieces, which include necklaces and rings.

However Jennifer was said to have breached a non-disclosure agreement by posting Instagram pictures of Prince Harry’s wife wearing her jewellery.

A royal source told the Daily Mirror: ‘Jennifer Meyer has been told to remove the images and in no uncertain terms how damaging this could be for Meghan and the Royal Family.’

Many of Jennifer’s pieces carry hidden or symbolic meanings, with a necklace and bracelet set she wore said to be designed to ward away evil.
