‘Rough-draft’ of MPD system targeted minors for garments, advertising food items

The Memphis Law enforcement Section is introducing a system that will try to suppress crimes fully commited by children in Downtown Memphis, the department claimed in a online video Friday night.

The effort and hard work, termed the Juvenile Crime Abatement System, is described as a response to “an influx of juveniles gathering on weekends in the Downtown Entertainment District.” The video clip cites that “a huge vast majority of thefts” in Downtown Memphis can be attributed to minors.

A PowerPoint presentation obtained by The Professional Appeal Friday afternoon, which MPD officials claimed Friday night was a tough draft of the software that was not authorised, comprehensive guidance to “observe juveniles and younger adult pedestrians for illegal routines,” these types of as offering candy and food items, actively playing loud tunes, remaining “inappropriately dressed” or dancing in the road in Downtown Memphis.
